"So, tell me about yourself." What a daunting question to answer, What do you want to know ... family history? what I do? Who are my Friends? Where I grew up? What I want out of life? or do you want to go deeper, are you really asking about ME?
Maybe I can illuminate the real me to a degree, give you a glimmer of who I am, how I live, and where I am going...
I am a single, 32 year old, gay man living in Arlington, VA. (See below for Stats) I moved here about a year ago, Christmas 1999. I rent an apartment here with Mike, my roommate, and best friend. I recently left the practice of law, disillusioned with defense attorneys and office politics. Currently, I am a case manager for InfoEdge Technology, Inc. a litigation and technology support firm based in Austin, Texas.
I graduated from Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas in 1990 with a degree in philosophy. In 1993, I graduated from Tulane Law School in New Orleans. Since the beginning of the "third wave" of tobacco cases, I have been involved in the litigation. This work brought me to Baltimore in 1996. After several years working on tobacco litigation, and other similar tort cases, I left the practice of law for a career in the technology sector. And here I am today.
I was born August 13, 1968, on a stormy night in Oklahoma City and moved shortly thereafter to Massachusetts. We lived there for a short time -- I have seen picture -- before moving to Shreveport, Louisiana. My earliest memories are of the family, at that time just my parents and me, moving into our apartment in Shreveport.
A short time after we arrived, the stork dropped off my sister, Debbie. We lived in Shreveport for about 5 years before moving to Salisbury, North Carolina. Salisbury was home for about 10 years, and is where my little brother was born -- almost 11 years younger than me. After North Carolina, we relocated once again to Arkansas. I graduated from El Dorado High School in 1986. My parents eventually moved, yet again, to Spartanburg, South Carolina, where they assure me they will stay for a while.
I am never quite sure how to answer the question, "Where are you from?" Generally, I just reply, "The South," smile, and hope I do not have to go into detail! :)
Another important element of my family are my friends. Moving around so much, I have made many, and, unfortunately, lost contact with many. Friends are an important part of my life. I love them all -- even if we have not spoken in years, and think about them often and wonder where they are now, what they are doing, who they are with, if they are happy...

Wouldn't the world be much easier of we could answer this questions with certainty? Easier, yes. Boring, absolutely. Most of the fun in life come from not knowing exactly what will happen next. At the moment I am trying to get settled into the new job, and making the decision on if I want to stay in the Washington, DC area, buy a house, and put down roots again.
This is a tough one also... I have met a lot of great guys, have fallen head of heals a few times. Some of these worked out, the longest being three years. There have been a couple others, some I dated for a while, others I never even had a chance.
I think the guy for me would be intelligent, not necessarily highly educated, but someone who challenges me to learn and expand my mind and experience. A guy who is equally comfortable at home watching a movie, hanging out with friends at a bar, or camping out on the side of a mountain. I like an independent guy with a strong personality, and good personal values. I like a creative guy... who sees things on a different angle. :)
And probably the most important part is that the perfect guy will be a true friend, as well as a lover, husband, mate. I like a guy with a good heart, and stable mind. I think a lot can be seen from a guy's smile and eyes. There is a look that some guys have that tells me they are genuinely good guys. I know somewhere out there there is a guy for me.. I JUST HOPE HE GETS HERE WHILE I CAN STILL HAVE MY OWN TEETH!! :-)
